Hofstra University announced earlier this week that former South Side Lady Cyclone Emily Considine has transferred to Hofstra from Syracuse University.
"We are thrilled that Emily has decided to join our program," Hofstra head coach Shannon Smith said in a release. "She is a very skilled lacrosse player and will be a great addition to our already strong roster. I look forward to coaching Emily, along with our other talented student-athletes."
Considine red-shirted her freshman season at Syracuse and will have four seasons of eligibility at Hofstra. Syracuse finished the 2012 season ranked No. 2 in the nation, while Hofstra finished ranked No. 54.
A 5-foot-11 attacker Considine graduated in 2011 and played four years of lacrosse for the Lady Cyclones under coach Megan Healey.
The Rockville Centre native had 21 goals, 25 assists and 29 ground balls during her senior season at South Side. She helped lead her team to division titles in her final three seasons in high school and totaled 77 goals and 87 assists for 164 points during her scholastic career. Considine was also named to the All-County team as a senior.
Also a skilled gymnast, Considine was named all-county three times in gymnastics.
Hofstra opens the 2013 season on Feb. 16 when it hosts New Hampshire at 11 a.m.
