Preparing Young Business Minds for the Future

Molloy College hosts second annual Business Boot Camp for local high schoolers.

Molloy College took a unique approach to the study of business with its Second Annual “Business Boot Camp.”  More than 80 high school students (up from 50 the first year) from more than 20 Long Island and Queens high schools recently attended four full days of lectures and seminars designed to provide the students with a deeper understanding of how business truly works.

The student’s experience included creating their own presentations, a trading simulation game, a discussion of careers on Wall Street and many other informative lectures. They also attended a business etiquette dinner and a closing reception that included their parents.

“We are pleased that so many high school students decided to spend the first part of their summer with Molloy being taught by professors with some great business credentials,” said Ed Weis, Ph.D., Dean of Molloy’s Division of Business. “When high school students ask our advice, we encourage them to begin with the final goal in mind. If their goal is a fast-track professional career, then they will need to supplement their academic training with professional skills. Our faculty of former executives welcomes the chance to introduce them to these professional skills during the boot camp."
