Cyclones Complete Three-Game Sweep of Hewlett

South Side outscored Hewlett in the final two games, 16-6.

The Cyclones took game two of its series against the Hewlett Bulldogs, 11-5.

Pitcher Mike Schuermann picked up his first win of the season. He tossed five innings and allowed five runs (only one was earned). Joel Ramirez slammed the door in relief, pitching two clean innings. Ed Farington led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. David Hawley also chimed in with two hits and picked up two RBI. The Cyclones got off to a rocky start defensively, making six errors in the first three innings, but settled down to secure the win.

In the third game of the series, the Cyclones won 5-1.

Ed Farington started for the Cyclones, throwing five innings while giving up one run. Louis Matarazzo was the star of the game, tossing two scoreless innings in relief. He eluded a bases loaded, none-out jam he inherited from Farington. He struck out four in two innings.

The South Side offense erupted in the sixth inning. Ben Felderstein knocked a two-run single up the middle to give the Cyclones a four-run cushion. Matarazzo retired the side in the 7th and picked up the win. The Cyclones head into their three-game series with Division on Monday riding a four-game winning streak.
