NYS May Owe You Money

Sen. Skelos: Residents could be untitled to unclaimed funds from the state.

Sen. Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) is urging residents to check and see if they're entitled to a portion of the more than $10.5 billion of unclaimed funds in New York State.

In New York State, banks, insurance companies, utilities, investment companies and many other businesses are required by state law to surrender inactive accounts for your protection. These accounts are known as lost, abandoned or unclaimed funds.

"With New York State currently holding over $10.5 billion in money of hard- working New Yorkers, I'm urging all residents of my senate district to check to see if they're entitled to any of these unclaimed funds," Skelos said.
