Curran Addresses RVC Issues at Town Hall Meeting

Along with Mayor Fran Murray and Town of Hempstead Councilman Tony Santino, dignitaries discuss LIRR station and tax cap.

New York State Assemblyman Brian Curran and Rockville Centre Mayor Fran Murray along with Senior Town of Hempstead Councilman Anthony Santino, held a recent town hall meeting for Rockville Centre residents at the Sandel Senior Center. The meeting provided residents with information on current state and local issues, and the opportunity to ask questions of the three elected officials.

"A town hall meeting is the best venue for an elected official to hear directly from their constituents about issues that are concerning them," Curran said.

Questions regarding the recently passed tax cap, New York State spending, the downsizing of state government and cleanliness of the Rockville Centre train station were addressed as well as concerns over traffic on Lincoln Avenue and Park Place.

Additionally, Councilman Santino informed the attendees that the Town of Hempstead is again freezing town taxes for Rockville Centre residents for the upcoming year. Mayor Murray spoke on several new volunteer initiatives recently created in the village under his new administration.

"It is very productive to have a group of residents get together and discuss how government representatives on various levels are working together to make Rockville Centre a better place to live," Curran said. "I know I speak for Tony and Fran when I say that is a true honor to serve in our respective capacities.”
