RVC PD's Lt. Schaefer Graduates from FBI Academy

Rockville Centre Police Lt. Kenneth Schaefer became the latest member of the police department to graduate from the FBI’s National Academy at Quantico, Virginia on March 16.

Lieutenant Schaefer was among 257 law enforcement officers from 28 countries, 48 states, three military organizations and five federal organizations to successfully complete the academy’s 248th session.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the program offers 10 weeks of advanced  investigative and management training for selected officers who have proven records of accomplishment within their agencies.

“It is quite an accomplishment for anyone to be selected for and complete this intensive course," said Police Commissioner Charles Gennario. "Lieutenant Schaefer will use the knowledge he has gained to help lead the department into the next decade. I congratulate him on this tremendous accomplishment."

Lieutenant Schaefer joined the Rockville Centre Police Department in 1989. He was promoted to sergeant in 2001 and to lieutenant in 2006.

Lieutenant Schaefer has earned several professional awards, including the Nassau County Municipal Police Chiefs Association Distinguished Service Award.

A total of 45,553 have graduated from the FBI National Academy since it opened in July 1935.    

Inspector Glenn Quinn graduated from the academy in June 2011, Lt. James Vafeades in Sept. 2011 and Lt. Christopher Romance in Dec. 2011.
