A Rockville Centre resident was arrested on July 12 after robbing a North Lynbrook bank, police said.
According to police, Frank Brugge, 58, of Hamilton Road, went into the Capital One Bank on Franklin Avenue in Lynbrook at around 3:20 p.m., and gave the teller a note demanding money.
Brugge received an undisclosed amount of cash, police said, then allegedly fled on foot down Hendrickson Avenue, where an off-duty Lynbrook police officer spotted him. The officer followed Brugge and watched him remove a wig and discard it. Aware of the bank robbery, the Lynbrook officer continued to follow Brugge, who was later arrested by a Malverne police officer. Proceeds from the robbery were recovered, and Brugge was charged with third-degree robbery.
