RVC Detectives Honored by Town of Hempstead

Detectives Michael Meehan and Tim Seward receive ToH Police Service Award.

For their countless hours of dedication and committment to keeping the streets of Rockville Centre safe, village detectives Michael Meehan and Tim Seward were recently awarded the Town of Hempstead Police Service Award.

Detectives Meehan and Steward spend hundreds of hours investigating crimes and patterns of activity throughout the village. To get a sense of how valuable these two officers are, simply look at how their police work in May 2010 helped take criminals off the streets of RVC.

In that month, Detectives Meehan and Steward assisted Nassau police in investigating a series of bank robberies, ultimately leading to the arrest of a suspect. The same month, after a 16-year-old girl was shot in Hempstead, the two detectives recognized one of the alleged subjects, leading to an arrest on first-degree assault.

Also in May, when the Yonkers Police Department was investigating the whereabouts of two murder suspects whom they tracked to Long Island, Detectives Meehan and Steward recognized the two men as Rockville Centre residents. Both subjects were subsequently arrested and charged with murder.

Both men have been recognized as the Rockville Centre Police Department’s “Cop of the Month” and “Cop of the Year” several times.
