Police: Hit-and-Run Suspect Caught

A Uniondale man who allegedly hit a pedestrian crossing Sunrise Highway and then fled the scene of the accident was arrested on Sunday, police said.

According to Nassau County detectives, Jamal Mabry, 25, of Uniondale, was arrested for hitting a 22-year-old man who was crossing Sunrise Highway heading northbound on Park Avenue with a blue Chevy Impala. Mabry allegedly hit the man and drove away. The victim was brought to South Nassau Communities Hospital and is in serious condition.

Mabry was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious physical injury. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday.
