Oceanside woman charged with stealing jewelry valued at more than $2,000 from Wantagh home.

An Oceanside woman was arrested Sunday and charged with stealing jewelry valued at more than $2,000 from a home in Wantagh she was a guest in.

According to Nassau County Seventh Squad detectives, Janice Longona while a guest in a residence on Sycamore Avenue in Wantagh this past Wednesday, entered a bedroom and took assorted jewelry valued in excess of $2,000.

Police said Longona, 36, then sold the jewelry at a second hand store.

Nassau County First Precinct Police Officers located Longona on Sunday on East Raymond Avenue in Roosevelt and placed her under arrest.

Police said when she was arrested, Longona was found to be in possession of a female victim’s credit cards, a New York State Drivers License, phone card and insurance card. The jewelry was not recovered. 

Longona is being charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree forgery, second-degree identity theft and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. She is scheduled for arraignment Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
