Police: Baldwin Woman Drove Drunk Near School with Child

Police say defendant's BAC was higher than .18, more than twice the legal limit.

A Baldwin woman was arrested Thursday evening after police said she drove drunk near an elementary school with a 9-year-old in the car.

According to Nassau County Police, around 7:47 p.m., Dana E. Arnold, 32, was driving a 2001 Saturn to Meadow School, located at 880 Jackson St., with a 9-year-old passenger.

Officers at the scene determined that Arnold was intoxicated and she was arrested without incident.

Police said that Arnold's blood alcohol content was higher than .18, more than twice the legal limit.

Arnold was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated (.18 or above), aggravated driving while intoxicated  with a child less than 16 years of age (Leandra’s Law) and endangering the welfare of a child. She was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.
