Kitchen Fire Breaks Out at Cabo

Landlord says the Park Avenue eatery should re-open in a week.

A small kitchen fire broke out at on Park Avenue on Wednesday morning.

According to John Busching, chief of the Rockville Centre Fire Department, a Cabo employee arrived at work around 10 a.m. and found the kitchen on fire. Busching said the fire department received the alarm around 10:15 a.m. and the fire was put out in 10 minutes.

The restaurant had not yet opened for the day, so there were no customers inside.

Busching said no one was hurt in the fire and the cause of it is still unknown. He added that the county fire marshall is investigating the blaze.

A man identified by village officials as the landlord for Cabo, who said his name was Dominic, said the damage to the kitchen was minimal and Cabo should be re-opened within the next week.
