  • Oct. 26 - At 12:30 a.m., Catherine Haynes, 29, of Lynbrook, was arrested and charged with DWI on Broadway.
  • Oct. 26 - At 4:15 a.m., Estefanie Baca, 33, of Maspeth, was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a motor vehicle without a rear protection device (bumper) on Merrick Road.
  • Oct. 26 - At 1:10 p.m., Libardo Pizarro, 58, of North Bergen, NJ, was arrested and charged with petty larceny and possession of burglar’s tools at 400 Sunrise Highway.
  • Oct. 28 - At 5:55 a.m., Donald P. Holupka, 22, of Lynbrook, was arrested and charged with violation of probation (warrant) on Yale Place.

Case Reports

  • Burglary - On Oct. 28 between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., a rear window at a Waterview Place home was pried open and assorted electronic equipment, valued at $4,080, 15 pairs of sneakers valued at $4,500 and $470 in money, was stolen from the home. The total loss was $9,050.
  • Lost Property - On Oct. 20 at 2 p.m., six NYS In-Transit license plates were stolen from 855 Sunrise Highway. The loss occurred sometime between 08/29/08 to 10/20/11.
  • Criminal Mischief - On Oct. 21 between 4:15 a.m. and 5:45 p.m., a 1998 Ford Mustang was scratched with an unknown object while parked on Hollywood Ave. The value of the damage was $400.
  • Identity Theft - At an unknown date, the complainant reports that an unknown person opened a cell phone account with five separate phone lines in their name without permission. The phone lines incurred a bill of $1,652. 
  • Criminal Mischief - Between 11:06 p.m. on Oct. 24 and 7:10 a.m. on Oct. 25, a 2011 Chevrolet Cavalier was scratched with an unknown object and the driver's door lock was damaged while the car was parked at 8 Freer St. The value of the damage is $275.
  • Criminal Mischief - On Oct. 25 at 9:35 a.m. the complainant reported that between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20 unknown persons damaged the rear tire on their 2009 Chrysler Town and Country car. A large pumpkn was also found on their front lawn on Holmes Place. The value of the damage is $165.
  • Petty Larceny - On Oct. 25 at 11:15 a.m. reports that a middle aged white male, 6'0" tall, thin build, short gray hair, wearing blue jeans, blue bottom down shirt and a black winter coat, stole 13 items from the at 400 Sunrise Highway. The total amount of the items is $88.67. 
  • Petty Larceny - On Oct. 27 between 5:15 a.m. and 9 p.m., a 24" Redline men's bicycle was stolen from the LIRR station. The bicycle was secured to the staircase located at Broadway and Saperstein Plaza.

Burglaries

  • Two homes in Lakeview were burglarized. The first incident occurred on Colonia Road on Oct. 27 and the second on Derrick Adkins Lane on Oct. 31.
  • There was also an attempted burglary at a home on Pinebrook Court in Lakeview on Nov. 1.
  • An Elmont home located on Miriam Parkway was burglarized on Nov. 1.

Grand Larcenies

  • A vehicle parked in the driveway of a home on N. Waldinger Street in Valley Stream was stolen on Oct. 27.
  • A car parked on Circle Drive East in Elmont was stolen on Oct. 28.
  • Copper was stolen from a home on Arlington Avenue in Valley Stream on Oct. 31.
  • Valuables were stolen from a car parked on Lakeview Avenue in Lakeview on Oct. 26.
  • Four manhole covers were stolen from locations on Hempstead Avenue in West Hempstead on Oct. 30.

Petit Larceny

  • Items were stolen from a shed located on Cohill Road in Valley Stream on Nov. 1. The victim had heard a loud noise in the backyard and looked outside to find a person near the shed carrying a bag.

Larcenies

  • Several items were stolen from cars parked in Lakeview. The first incident occurred on Hopatcong Avenue on Oct. 31 and the second on Iris Place on Nov. 1.
  • Both the driver and passenger side-view mirrors were stolen off of a car parked on Holland Avenue in Elmont between Oct. 30 and Nov. 1.

Criminal Mischief

  • The window of a vehicle parked on Ostego Road in Lakeview on Oct. 26 was smashed.
  • A worker at a business located on Franklin Avenue in Franklin Square discovered a hole in the front glass window of the store when he came to work on Oct. 28.
  • The back windshield of a car parked on William Street in West Hempstead was damaged on Oct. 29.
  • The rear glass window of a car parked on Claflin Boulevard in Franklin Square between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 was broken by an unknown person.
  • An unknown suspect kicked in the front door of a home located on 240th Street in Elmont on Nov. 2, breaking the glass. The person then ran away.
  • The right rear window of a car parked on Baylis Avenue in Elmont between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 was broken.
