Crime Watch: TD Bank Robber Nabbed, DWI Arrests

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

The following information was supplied by the RVC Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests:

Robbery Squad detectives report the arrest of a North Woodmere man for a robbery that occurred on Sept. 2 at 9:20 a.m. in Rockville Centre.

According to detectives, the defendant, Jamie Bernard, 22, of North Woodmere, entered the TD Bank, located at 290 Merrick Road and handed a demand note to a teller. After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, Bernard fled out the rear door into a municipal parking lot. At 10:50 a.m., Bureau of Special Operations officers located Bernard who was hiding behind a garage at 45 S. Marion Place in Rockville Centre and placed him under arrest without incident.

During the robbery, there were seven employees present. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

The defendant is charged with third-degree robbery and was arraigned on Sept. 3 at First District Court in Hempstead.

On Sept. 3 at 2:25 a.m., Charles Pena, 43, of East Elmhurst, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and VTL violations after being observed operating a motor vehicle on Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.

On Aug. 31 at 9:06 p.m., Ruben I. Canizalez, 32, of Richmond Hill, was arrested for an open Nassau County VTL warrant and for VTL violations observed by police personnel while in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway and N. Long Beach Road in Rockville Centre.

On Sept. 1 at 2:50 p.m, Karl W. Adams, 47, of Hempstead, was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation and VTL violations following an investigation by police personnel on Canterbury Road in Rockville Centre.

On Sept. 3 at 1 p.m, George Armstrong, 19, of Rockville Centre, was arrested for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct, and an open warrant for second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia following a police investigation at Rockville Centre Lanes, located at 100 Maple Ave. in Rockville Centre.
