Crime Watch Part Two: Property Stolen from Parked Cars and Homes

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

Larceny:

On Oct. 18 at 7:20 a.m., a complainant from S. Marion Place in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole property including a Dell lap top computer valued at $1,500 from her 2000 Subaru that was parked in the residence parking lot between Oct. 17 at 6:50 p.m. and Oct. 18 at 6:30 a.m.

On Oct. 18 at 8 p.m., a complainant from Merrick Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole property including a Sanyo cell phone valued at $100 from her 2011 Toyota Corolla parked in Municipal Parking Field  No. 19 between 7:30 p.m. and 7:50 p.m.

On Oct. 19 at 8:50 p.m., a complainant from Kennedy Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole property including a Blackberry cell phone valued at $300 from his 2011 Lincoln that was parked in the parking lot of St. Agnes Cathedral between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

On Oct. 19 at 7:36 p.m., a complainant from Grand Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole property including $10 from her 2011 Jeep parked in Municipal Parking Field No. 17 between Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.

On Oct. 24 at 1 a.m., a complainant from Hempstead Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole a Samsung digital camera valued at $500 from his 2003 GMC parked in front of his residence on Oct. 23 between 9 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

On Oct. 22 at 3 p.m., a complainant from Princeton Street in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole a Panasonic bicycle valued at $45 from the vicinity of the LIRR at N. Park Avenue and Front Street in Rockville Centre sometime between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Criminal Mischief:

On Oct. 21 at 8:30 p.m., a complainant from 1st Street in Lynbrook reported that unknown person(s) damaged the driver side rear and passenger side front tires of his 2001 Cadillac that was parked in front of 486 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre between 7:10 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

On Oct. 17 at 10:58 a.m., a complainant from Atkinson Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) damaged his Porsche parked in her driveway by scratching the paint without permission.

Unusual Incident:

On Oct. 21 at 2:30 p.m., a complainant from Washington Avenue in Oceanside reported that unknown person(s) debited $1,350.59 from her Astoria Federal Savings bank account without authorization.

My husband"s car was broken into Friday btw( 9pm-11pm) while we were visiting friends(in front of their house) E.Melton Dr -RVC -I saw 3 suspicious youths leave in a green Honda w/NJ plates-his new EVO phone was stolen and the car was ripped apart

Please do not leave valuables in plain sight in your car,very simple to do,hide things under your seat,criminals look for items in plain sight,even running into the store for a few mintues,lock the doors and hide your electronics.the economy is bad people are stealing.

Maybe we need more police presence at night and more driving around,usually when u drive by the police station 85% of the cars are parked.Thats what we pay taxes for

Jeff, I believe the pd does have spare cars.
