Crime Watch Part Two: Bike Larcenies and Fraudulent Checks

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

Larceny:

On Jan. 2 at 11:10 a.m., a complainant from Lakeside Drive in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole three bicycles from his driveway sometime between Dec. 31 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 1 at 11 a.m. The complainant reported that one bicycle was recovered by him in the vicinity of Peninsula Boulevard and Lakeview Avenue in Rockville Centre at approximately 10 p.m.

On Jan. 3 at 1:30 a.m., a complainant from Heckimer Avenue in Hewlett reported that unknown person(s) damaged the rear passenger window to his 2005 Toyota while parked at TGI Friday's, located at 716 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre, between Jan. 2 at 4:45 p.m. and Jan. 3 at 1:15 a.m. and stole approximately $20 in loose change without permission.

On Dec. 30 at 3:15 p.m., a complainant from the Village Hall, located at 1 College Place in Rockville Centre, reported that unknown person(s) made unauthorized purchases from TJ Maxx, Petco, Target and Home Depot totaling $727.25 between Nov. 8 and Nov. 14 using fraudulent checks against a Village of Rockville Centre Chase account.

On Dec. 30 at 4:20 p.m., a complainant from Schuyler Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that sometime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., unknown person(s) stole his Trek bicycle valued at $100 from the vicinity of Front Street and N. Park Avenue in Rockville Centre.

On Dec. 31 at 9:20 a.m., a complainant from Healy Street in Elmont reported that sometime between Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. and Dec. 31 at 8:30 a.m., unknown person(s) stole his Trek bicycle valued at $300 from the vicinity of Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.

On Dec. 31 at 8:45 a.m., a complainant from Prospect Avenue in East Meadow reported that sometime between Dec. 30 and Dec. 31, unknown person(s) stole the passenger side rear tire and wheel from her 2009 Honda while parked at Mercy Medical Center (parking lot), located at 1000 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre.

Criminal Mischief:

On Jan. 2 at 1:50 p.m., a complainant from Lorrie Drive in Oceanside reported that unknown person(s) damaged the passenger side front window valued at $200 to his 2001 Chevrolet while traveling on Merrick Road in Rockville Centre. The complainant further reported that he believed that the window was damaged with an “airsoft” type pellet.

On Jan. 1 at 11 a.m., a complainant from Oak Street in Baldwin reported that unknown person(s) damaged two side-view mirrors valued at $200 total to his 2000 Ford sometime between Dec. 31 at 9 p.m. and Jan. 1 at 10:25 a.m. while parked on Andover Road in Rockville Centre.

On Jan. 1 at 3:50 p.m., a complainant from Howell, NJ reported that unknown person(s) damaged the rear windshield wiper valued at $250 to his 2005 Nissan sometime between 2 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. while parked on Arrandale Road in Rockville Centre.

Property Damage:

On Jan. 2, complainant superintendent from Morris Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that the building sign valued at $700 in front of Hampton House, located at 120 Morris Ave. in Rockville Centre, was damaged by unknown means sometime between Dec. 31 at 3 p.m. and Jan. 2 at 9 a.m.

On Dec. 29 at 7:44 p.m., a complainant from Central Avenue in Baldwin reported that a window valued $300 at 85 Rockaway Ave. in Rockville Centre was found to have been broken by unknown means.

On Dec. 31 at 6:25 p.m., a complainant from N. Forest Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that the windshield of his 2011 Infiniti valued at $200 was damaged by unknown means while traveling southbound on N. Long Beach Road in Rockville Centre at 6:10 p.m.

On Jan. 1, complainant manager from Long Island Blood Services, located at 290 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre, reported that the front door window valued at $250 was damaged by unknown means sometime between Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 at 7:15 a.m.
