Crime Watch Part Two: $4K Stolen from Purse Left in Car

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

Larceny:

On Aug. 8, a complainant from Ohio Street in Hicksville reported that his parked 1996 Chevrolet was stolen from Municipal Parking Field No. 1 sometime between  Aug. 5 at 10 p.m. and Aug. 6 at 4:15 a.m. 

On Aug. 9, a complainant from Windsor Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that his Trek 7100 mountain bicycle valued at $400 was stolen from the bicycle rack at the LIRR Station N. Village Avenue and Front Street sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. where it had been secured with a cable lock.

On Aug. 13, a complainant from Berkshire Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole an iPod valued at $125 and ear bud valued at $5 from his 2010 Jeep while parked in the driveway between Aug. 12 at 10:30 p.m. and Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. 

On Aug. 16, a complainant from Beech Street in South Hempstead reported that his orbital sanders and sander discs valued at $495 total were stolen from Hewitt School, located at 446 Hempstead Ave. in Rockville Centre sometime between Aug. 4 at 4 p.m. and Aug. 16 at 7 a.m.

On Aug. 15, a complainant from Whittier Street in Westbury reported that unknown person(s) took a purse from her 1999 Ford that was parked in front of 50 Lenox Road in Rockville Centre between 11:15 a.m. and 11:55 a.m. The superintendent of 31 Lenox Road in Rockville Centre reported finding the purse in the rear of his building; the complainant reported that $4,000 was missing from the recovered property.

On Aug. 15, a complainant from Fox Avenue in Baldwin reported that unknown person(s) stole his digital camera valued at $149 sometime between 12:15 p.m. and 1 p.m.while he was working at Mercy Medical Center, located at 1000 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre.

Unusual Incident:

On Aug. 11 at 10 p.m., a complainant from Westminster Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) applied for lines of credit using his personal information without permission and charged $1,400 worth of merchandise from Sam’s Club without authorization.

Investigations: 

On Aug. 8, a complainant from the Diocese of Rockville Centre, located at 50 N. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre, reported suspicious activity on a checking account regarding four checks totaling $2,465.63.

On Aug. 8, a complainant from Burtis Avenue in Rockville Centre reported a dispute regarding a second hand iPod purchase and youths harassing the seller by ringing the door to the residence and running away.

Fire:

On Aug. 14 at 5:21 a.m., police personnel responded to a reported fire at We Buy Gold, located at 218A Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre. RCFD extinguished a fire to the awning of the building possibly caused by neon lights at location of incident.

Property Damage:

On Aug. 8, two parked vehicles at Mercy Medical Center, located at 1000 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre were reportedly damaged by falling tree limbs.

On Aug. 10, a complainant from N. Village Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that the rear bumper to his 2011 Honda was damaged by unknown means while parked in Municipal Parking Field No. 20 between Aug. 9 at 10 p.m. and Aug. 10 at 1:45 p.m. 

On Aug. 10, a complainant from Woodgreen Place in Rockville Centre reported that sometime between 9:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m., unknown person(s) damaged two legs of a bench located on the front lawn of his residence.

On Aug. 11, a complainant from Foxhurst Road in Rockville Centre reported that at approximately 12:49 a.m., unknown person(s) shot BBs and damaged the passenger side window and vehicle body of his 2007 Toyota operated by his daughter in the vicinity of N. Centre Avenue and Wellington Street in Rockville Centre.

On Aug. 13, a complainant from Marlborough Court in Rockville Centre reported that the passenger side rear window to her 2010 Chevrolet was damaged by unknown person(s) sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. while the vehicle was parked at her residence.

On Aug. 12, a complainant from Salem Road in Rockville Centre reported that the front windshield to his 1995 Chevrolet was damaged by unknown person(s) sometime between Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m. and Aug. 12 at 9 a.m. while the vehicle was parked in the driveway.
