Crime Watch: Freeport Teen Trio Arrested for Attempted Grand Larceny

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

The following information was supplied by the RVC Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrest:

On March 27 at 12:38 a.m., Bernardino A. Orellana, 18, of Baldwin, was arrested in the vicinity of N. Forest Avenue and Merrick Road in Rockville Centre for second-degree harassment, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree reckless endangerment regarding a reported incident that occurred at the Gulf Gas Station, located at 360 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.

On March 25 at 2:15 a.m., a 17-year-old male from Smith Street in Freeport was arrested in the vicinity of Greystone Road and Winding Road in Rockville Centre for third-degree attempted grand larceny, petit larceny, possession of burglar’s tools, and VTL violations following a police investigation in Municipal Parking Field No. 21.

On March 25 at 2:15 a.m., Oscar Velasquez, 19, of Freeport, was arrested in the vicinity of Greystone Road and Winding Road in Rockville Centre for third-degree attempted grand larceny, petit larceny, and possession of burglar’s tools following a police investigation in Municipal Parking Field No. 21.

On March 25 at 2:15 a.m., Juan Delacruz, 18, of Freeport, was arrested in the vicinity of Greystone Road and Winding Road in Rockville Centre for third-degree attempted grand larceny, petit larceny, and possession of burglar’s tools following a police investigation in Municipal Parking Field No. 21.

Assault:

On March 26 at approximately 4:04 a.m., a complainant from Cedar Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that he was assaulted by two acquaintances while in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway and N. Park Avenue in Rockville Centre, resulting in a chipped tooth and a laceration to his head requiring staples.

Larceny:

On March 21, complainant service manager from Morrissey GMC, located at 510 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre, reported that sometime between March 18 at 5:30 p.m. and March 19 at 11 a.m., unknown person(s) entered the rear parking area through a hole in the fence and removed four wheels valued at $4,000 from a GMC truck without permission; the damage to the fence is reported to be valued at approximately $500.

On March 21, a complainant from Rockaway Beach, NY reported that at approximately 3:35 p.m., an unknown male stole her pocketbook from an office at 53 N. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre; the unknown male returned the property when confronted and fled possibly in a waiting vehicle.

On March 22, a complainant from Arlington Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole his T-Mobile Curve cell phone valued at $300 from an unattended bag during gym period at South Side High School, located at 140 Shepherd St. in Rockville Centre.

On March 27, a complainant from Lakeside Drive in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) entered his parked 2000 ME/BZ motor vehicle sometime between 1 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and stole $60.

On March 26, a complainant from Concord Avenue in Oceanside reported that unknown person(s) damaged the rear passenger side window to his 2003 Lincoln while it was parked at TGI Fridays between 8:30 and 9:40 p.m., and stole a fire department scanner and an iPod touch.

On March 25, a complainant from S. Centre Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole his Rawlings baseball glove valued at $130 on March 21 sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. while at South Side High School, located at 140 Shepherd St. in Rockville Centre.

Larceny (attempt):

On March 27, three complainants from Crocker Street in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) entered their parked vehicles; there were no reported losses at the time of reports.

On March 27, a complainant from Lakeside Drive in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) entered her parked 2000 Buick sometime between March 26 at 5 p.m. and March 27 at 12:30 p.m., there was no reported loss at the time of report.

Unusual Incident-

On March 22, a complainant from Lakeview Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that an unknown person called him and attempted to have the victim send $200 via the Western Union located at 63 N. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre under false pretenses; a planned meeting was not attended by the unknown subject(s).

On March 25, a complainant from Cumberland Street in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) opened two credit card accounts with her personal information without authorization and charged $1,911.38 at a Best Buy store located in North Wales, Pennsylvania.

On March 26, a complainant from Westminster Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) opened five credit accounts using his personal information without authorization.

On March 26, a complainant from N. Village Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) ordered five AT&T cell phones using his personal information without authorization.

Identity Theft:

On March 24 at approximately 10:30 p.m., a complainant from Westminster Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) made unauthorized credit purchases of $229.98 and $3,404.71 on his credit cards and made additional purchases of $2,442.25, $948.47, and $2013.73 against three credit cards opened using his personal information.

Criminal Mischief:

On March 22, a complainant from Buckminster Road in Rockville Centre reported that on March 21 at approximately 11:55 p.m., unknown person(s) threw a brick through a front window causing damage valued at approximately $3,500.

On March 26, a complainant from Philadelphia, Penn. reported that unknown person(s) damaged the driver side window to her 2007 Infiniti while it was parked at TGI Fridays between 8 p.m. and 9:40 p.m.

Property Damage:

On March 23, a complainant from Lenox Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) damaged the front end of her motor vehicle while it was parked in a rear parking lot between March 18 at 4 p.m. and March 23 at 4 p.m.
