Crime Watch: Cars Robbed While Parked at TGI Fridays

Recent police activity in Rockville Centre as reported by the RVC PD.

Arrest:

On Oct. 23 at approximately 10:56 p.m., James Hayes, 46, of Hempstead, was arrested for robbery following an investigation by police personnel at the scene of a motor vehicle accident that occurred at Hempstead Avenue and Paddock Lane in Rockville Centre.

On Oct. 19 at 2:45 p.m., a 15-year-old girl from Jefferson Avenue in Rockville Centre was reportedly approached by four male subjects while in the vicinity of Lakeview Avenue and Winding Road in Rockville Centre. The men stole her pocketbook and fled in a pick-up truck eastbound on Lakeview Avenue.

On Oct. 20, a complainant AHRC assistant director from East Bethpage Road in Plainview reported that a site manager for AHRC Group Home on South Marion Avenue in Rockville Centre cashed bank checks totaling $785 from monies belonging to a client living at that location.

On Oct. 20 at 2:36 p.m., a complainant from Hempstead Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that a bicycle was stolen.

On Oct. 21, a complainant from Beach 89 Street in Rockaway Beach reported that her iPhone 4 valued at $450 was stolen while at Molloy College located 1000 Hempstead Ave. in Rockville Centre.

On Oct. 22, a complainant from Gateway in Bellmore reported to police that his digital stereo valued at $150 was taken without permission while his motor vehicle was parked at TGI Fridays located at 716 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre between 7:15 p.m. and 8:16 p.m.  

On Oct. 22, a complainant from Mitchel Street in Uniondale reported to police that the rear passenger window to his 2009 Dodge was damaged and his Motorola Droid X cell phone valued at $300 was taken without permission while his car was parked at TGI Fridays located at 716 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Unusual Incident:

On Oct. 18, a complainant from Maine Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) made unauthorized purchases against her NEFCU debit card at Nordstrom's in Short Hills, NJ totaling $1043.65.

On Oct. 22, a complainant from Raymond Street in Rockville Centre reported that home heating oil accidentally spilled from a truck hose and that oil splashed into the eyes of a male employee of the oil company. RCFD, RC Building Department, NC Fire Marshal and police personnel responded to the location.

On Oct. 22, a complainant from N. Village Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) made eight unauthorized purchases against her NEFCU checking account.

On Oct. 22, a complainant from Buckingham Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) changed the address on her Chase checking account and ordered checks without permission. The complainant also reported unauthorized ATM withdrawals were made totaling approximately $8,000 between Oct. 12 and Oct. 22.
