Crime Watch: Assaults in the Downtown
Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.
The following information was supplied by the Rockville Centre Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.
Assault:
On Aug. 2 at 11 p.m., a Hempstead Avenue resident reported he was punched in the face by an unknown male while he was at the corner on Merrick Road/N. Park Avenue. The aided complained of pain and a contusion to his face.
On Aug. 4 at 10:53 a.m., an East Rockaway resident reported he was punched in the face by a known male while he was at R.J. Daniels Restaurant, located at 179 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre on Aug. 3 at approximately 1 a.m. The aided sustained a broken nose during the altercation.
Arrest:
On Aug. 2 at 12:32 a.m., Daniel V. Bettes, 19, of Oceanside, was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance following an investigation by RCPD Anti Crime Unit detectives in Municipal Parking Field No. 1.
