Crime Watch: Assaults and Drug Arrests

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

The following information was supplied by the RVC Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests:

On June 21 at 6:43 a.m., Sonny C. Williams, 56, of Rockville Centre, was arrested for third-degree assault following an investigation at his residence.

On June 25 at 4:51 a.m., Jason M. Mercado, 36, of Valley Stream, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault after causing injury to a victim during a disturbance on Sunrise Hwy.

On June 25 at 6:55 p.m., the following two defendants were arrested by RCPD Anti-Crime personnel during a narcotics investigation at 2 Sunrise Highway in RVC:

  1. Richard I. Hemmings, 23, of Valley Stream, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
  2. Nektaria C. Drakopoulos, 23, of East Rockaway, was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

 

On June 25 at 9:25 p.m., Shaun C. Lamacchia, 29, of Islip Terrace, was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation, failure to yield, operating an unregistered vehicle and operation with an expired inspection certificate on Clinton Avenue in RVC.

On June 26 at 11:25 p.m., Desmind Yarborough, 18, of Rockville Centre, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault during a disturbance in his residence. The defendant was also charged with trespass after he was found to have an open warrant from Hempstead.

Larceny:

On June 21, the manager of Kid’s Cottage, located at 14A S. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre, reported that at approximately 11:15 a.m., unknown person(s) stole assorted girl’s clothing valued at $579.

On June 22, a complainant from Pickson Street in Inwood reported that unknown person(s) stole his driver license from his wallet while working at Rockville Nursing Home, located at 55 Maine Ave. in Rockville Centre on June 9 sometime between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.

On June 23, a complainant from Whitehall Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole an iPod Touch valued at $250 and a Canon Digital Camera valued at $250 from his unlocked 2011 Jeep motor vehicle while parked in front of 279 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre between 6-7:30 p.m.

On June 24 at about 9 a.m., a Demott Avenue resident and a Marlborough Court resident reported an unknown person broke windows on their vehicles and removed GPS units while the cars were parked overnight in the lot of Central Synagogue located at 430 Demott Ave.

Graffiti:

On June 21, police personnel observed graffiti on the front of a vacant building located at 334 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.

Property Damage:

On June 22, a complainant from Knollwood Road in Rockville Centre reported that her 2007 Dodge motor vehicle was damaged sometime between 3 a.m. and 3:05 a.m. by unknown means while parked in her driveway.

On June 25 at 11 a.m., a Woodmere resident reported his 2010 Nissan was damaged by unknown means while it was parked in the lot at South Side High School during the day on June 24.
