Police: NYPD Officer Hit Five Cars in Wrong-Way Driving DWI

A New York City police officer was arrested early Saturday morning for DWI after allegedly driving on the wrong side of the Southern State Parkway and hitting five other cars.

According to New York State Police, around 1:45 a.m., a Mazda MPV was spotted driving the wrong way on the Southern State Parkway, eastbound in the westbound lanes, near exit 17 in West Hempstead.

Police said the Mazda struck five vehicles and the operator of the Mazda, 48-year-old Ronald Holmes, of Elmont, was subsequently arrested for DWI.

One person was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for minor injuries and three others were treated at the accident scene, but not admitted.

Holmes was arrested for DWI, reckless endangerment in the second degree, reckless driving and several traffic violations. He was held for arraignment in Nassau County First District Court.

  • On July 31 at 8:25 p.m., Jose R. Serrata, 33, of Valley Stream, was arrested and charged with operating with a restricted license, circumvention of interlock device and using a cellular phone without hands-free on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.

  • On Aug. 1 at 1:10 a.m., Christopher A. Sanchez, 23, of Valley Stream, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree and excessive window tint on Merrick Road in Lynbrook.

  • On Aug. 3 at 12:58 a.m., Kumar Narinder, 36, of South Richmond Hill, was arrested and charged with unlawfully dealing with a child for selling beer to a minor at a gas station on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.

  • On Aug. 3 at 4:55 a.m., Alberto Cedillos, 27, of East Meadow, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated at the scene of an auto accident on Duryea Place in Lynbrook.

  • On Aug. 5 at 1:27 a.m., Seung Hee Kim, 24, of Plainview, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Merrick Road in Lynbrook.

  • On Aug. 5 at 1:45 p.m., Angel A. Cruz, 27, of East Meadow, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, disobeying a stop sign and using a cellular phone without hands-free on Merrick Road in Lynbrook.

  • On Aug. 5 at 9:50 p.m., Matthew D. Marty, 26, of Lindenhurst, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, unlawful possession of marijuana, speeding in a posted zone, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without the benefit of valid insurance on Peninsula Boulevard in Lynbrook.

  • On Aug. 6 at 2:20 a.m., Kenneth Kakareko, 45, of Oceanside, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, speeding in a posted zone, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without the benefit of valid insurance or Inspection on Broadway in Lynbrook.

  • On Aug. 9 at 3:29 p.m., Patricia Fayden, 54, of Lynbrook, was arrested and charged with warrants for aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and an equipment violation at the scene of an auto accident on Ocean Avenue in Lynbrook.

  • On Aug. 11 at 10:20 p.m., Seprel Turner, 23, of Jamaica, was arrested and charged with burglary in the third degree in room No. 158 of the Capri Motor Inn, located at 5 Freer St. in Lynbrook.

  • On Aug. 11 at 10:20 p.m., Victoria Sweatt, 20, of Jamaica, was arrested and charged with burglary in the third degree, in room No. 158 of the Capri Motor Inn, located at 5 Freer St. in Lynbrook.

  • Case Reports

    • Criminal Mischief: At 10:40pm on July 31, the complainant, of 54 Marion St. in Lynbrook, reported that an unknown person damaged the front window of the house by throwing a large rock through it. The total amount of the damage is $200.

    • Grand Larceny: At 9:15 a.m. on Aug. 1, the complainant reported that his black 2007 Mercury (Wyoming registration) was stolen from their driveway on Olive Place. The value of the vehicle is $ 10,000.

    • Grand Larceny: Between 8 a.m. and 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 2, the complainant reported that an unknown person(s) removed an envelope containing $1,900 from a closet on Ruth Place in Lynbrook.

  • Petit Larceny: At 8:10 p.m. on Aug. 5, the complainant, a resident of 200 Atlantic Ave. in Lynbrook, stated that the night nurse, who was to watch him during the evening, left abruptly after relieving the victim of $100, which was left in an envelope marked for groceries.
