Cops: Duo Nabbed in Fake Credit Card Scam

Two Brooklyn men charged with grand larceny, forgery after using fake credit cards to buy over $60,000 of merchandise in RVC.

Two Brooklyn men face a battery of larceny charges after using fake credit cards to buy over $60,000 of merchandise, according to Nassau County Police.

Detectives said Michael Richards, 29, and Shalane Haynes-Grant, 22, both of Brooklyn, bought items and gift cards from the Rockville Centre Rite Aid using fraudulent credit cards reencoded with fraudulent bank account numbers. The purchases tallied over $60,000, cops said.

Richards and Haynes-Grant were arrested Wednesday at 8:50 a.m. at Rite Aid and were found in possession of dozens of fake cards, police reported.

Both men are charged with second-degree grand larceny. Haynes-Grant is charged with 11 counts and Richards with 16 counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument. They will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hemptead.
