Police: Mineola Woman Missing

Nassau Police are seeking the public’s help in tracking down a missing Mineola woman.

A Silver Alert has been issued for Debra Guiliano, 53. Described as 5-foot-6, 165 pounds with brown eyes and hair, Guiliano was last seen June 6 on Wilson Boulevard.

Police said Guiliano, who wears glasses, also has a tattoo on her shoulder, possibly of a butterfly.

A Silver Alert is issued by police to local media, hospitals and other organizations when a senior citizen or other individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or other cognitive disorders goes missing, police said.

Boardwalk Decking Underway in Long Beach

The much-anticipated deck construction on the Long Beach boardwalk began Monday and continued on Tuesday morning.

This decking work is a 'preliminary-assessment build out,’ Long Beach City officials stated. 

It is being completed prior to full construction which starts on June 17. Crews and cranes are now fully operational along the 2.2-mile boardwalk.

EPOA Asks Garden City Library Board to Reconsider Sunday Closing

The Eastern Property Owners' Association (EPOA) passed a resolution asking the Garden City Public Library board of trustees to reconsider its decision to close the library on Sundays for the foreseeable future.

The library board voted 4-0 (trustee John Schultz was absent) at a special meeting in May to close the library indefinitely on Sundays, a move that could save roughly $29,000 according to newly retired trustee Jack Pascal.

Garden City Boys Lax Wins Second Straight State Title

It's not always easy to live up to expectations when the expectation is to win a state championship.

But the Garden City Trojans boys lacrosse team is not one to disappoint.

James Sullivan won 18-of-25 faceoffs and junior Cody George scored five goals as the Trojans knocked off the Jamesville-DeWitt Red Rams 13-8 en route to their second consecutive New York State Class B title.
