A Swing for Buddy and Other Kids With Special Needs

One-and-a-half-year-old Buddy Abrams can now enjoy swinging all-year round.

At the urging of his mother, Wendy, the Village of Rockville Centre has installed a swing that is accessible to children with special needs, which was officially unveiled on Monday. Buddy was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, a type of cancer, on his brain stem, which causes a failure to thrive and a loss of the use of his limbs.

Buddy will soon begin a new round of chemo after his latest MRI showed his tumor is stable.

A temporary swing had been previously set up at Riverside Elementary School.

Check out our video above to see what Wendy Abrams and Mayor Francis Murray had to say about the swing, as well as see the joy on Buddy's face as he goes for a ride.
