Enjoy Ices, Help an RVC Kid With Cancer

The Rockville Centre Ralph’s Italian Ices will hold a fundraiser on Monday for a South Side Middle School student who has been diagnosed with brain cancer.

The shop, at 128 North Park Ave., will donate a percentage of the entire day’s sales to the family of soon-to-be seventh grader Douglas Gonzalez, who received his diagnosis earlier this year. Douglas’ 12th birthday is also Monday.

“They are a wonderful family in a real time of need,” said Gilda Bilardello, owner of RVC Ralph's and the family’s neighbor. “We have done many fundraisers over our 15 years in RVC and couldn't think of a more deserving situation than this one. We thought his birthday would be a great day to show our support for this amazing family.”

The featured flavor of the day will be birthday cake, and there will be chances to win a “DougStrong” t-shirt and Ralph’s gift certificates. The shop will be open from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
