We ring in the holiday season with Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet, the Nutcracker. The South Shore Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director and Conductor Scott Jackson Wiley and in collaboration with Leggz Ltd Dance under the Artistic Direction of Joan Hope MacNaughton, presents the full length ballet at South Side High School in
Rockville Centre on Friday December 7th at 7:30 pm, Saturday December 8th at 5 pm and Sunday December 9th at 4 pm. In addition to the composer’s full score, this magical extravaganza features talented and gifted young dancers from all over the metropolitan area and guest ballet stars of international prestige accompanied by a full symphony orchestra.
Among the featured performers are Kathleen Breen Combes, Principal Dancer with the Boston Ballet as the Sugar Plum Fairy; Yury Yanowsy Current Principal with the Boston Ballet as the Cavalier; Allison Walsh, a Soloist with the Joffrey Ballet, Ballet X, and Washington Ballet, dancing the role of the Snow Queen and Arabian Coffee; Slava Fadeyev, former soloist with the Kirov Ballet; Marie Lorene Fichaux, Teatro alla Scalla Ballet Company in Milan and the Royal Ballet of London; Matthew Prescott, former dancer with the Joffrey Ballet; and Matthew Powell from the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Kansas City Ballet and the San Francisco Opera.
The 65-member South Shore Symphony Orchestra is one of the premiere symphony
orchestras of Long Island. Currently celebrating its 27th season, it is an
associate of the Rockville Centre Guild for the Arts and is based in
Rockville Centre, NY.
