Limited LIRR Service Restored, No Express Trains

Evening rush hour expected to be a messy commute after morning fire at Jamaica.

Train service to all LIRR branches- except the Port Washington line - was suspended midday Monday after a fire occurred in the LIRR's switching tower at Jamaica. Severe delays are expected to continue into the evening rush hour.

LIRR officials said they expect service to operate at 60 percent of normal throughout the evening.

There will be no regular scheduled connections at Jamaica and no Babylon Branch trains will leave from Atlantic Terminal, officials said.
