Revolution Yoga Opens Art Gallery

The North Village Avenue studio aims to blend yoga with art, music and literature.

In addition to the restorative classes that RVC’s Revolution Yoga is known for, the North Village Avenue studio is now offering the opportunity to experience the work of local artists in its newly opened gallery space. On May 21, Revolution Yoga hosted a debut art show titled, “Inside The Mind," featuring the work of 17 artists and live music by Steve Booke, Avi Rosenberg and Brendan Matthews.

“We opened the yoga studio with the intention of bringing together all of our passions,” said Amanda DiGiovanna, owner of Revolution Yoga. “Yoga, art, music, literature and film are all things that bring you to a deeper place and closer to your most authentic self.”

DiGiovanna noted that in addition to the art gallery, Revolution Yoga will begin hosting a book club, documentary film nights and even raw food meet-ups later this summer. “Yoga means union with our true selves and with the universe around us,” she said. “Not only yoga postures bring you to union, so we want to offer everything that does.”

The opening of the art gallery drew more than 50 attendees, DiGiovanna said. Alyse Henning curated the show and said the evening was a success. “This new gallery is a great opportunity to connect with artists in the community, for the artists to showcase their talent, and to further explore the connection between mind and body that Revolution Yoga fosters,” she said.

DiGiovanna and Henning attribute the event’s large turnout to the continued support from the RVC community. DiGiovanna invited several local business owners to attend and also distributed flyers throughout the village announcing the details of the gallery opening.

Revolution Yoga’s next art show will take place on July 18 at 7:30 p.m. The studio’s owners are currently accepting submissions for the show, which will be titled “The Fervor.” DiGiovanna explained the theme of the upcoming show as “whatever sparks a frenzy, demonstrates passion or shows what gets people in a tizzy.”
