Business Q&A: Idyology

The newest addition to the Merrick Road shopping scene, Idyology offers an eclectic mix of clothing and accessories for men and women. Here, we speak with manager Maurice Idy about the ins and outs of opening a boutique in RVC. 

Tell us about the merchandise you sell.

We sell women’s and men’s sportswear. Our fashions include jeans, tops, dresses and accessories. Our merchandise consists of specialty items and everything is very well-chosen with our customers in mind. Everything is modern, stylish, and has a little edge to it.

How would you describe your customer service?

We do things right from the start. Our staff is very professional and experienced and that’s what we’ve built our business on. We also provide customers with a very nice shopping experience in the store. At the end of the day, if a customer looks great wearing our products, then they are happy.

What is your own background in the retail business?

My wife and I run the store together and we have 32 years of experience dealing with customers in this business. We know our business. We also have an Idyology store in Lynbrook, so Rockville Centre is our second location.

Why did you choose Rockville Centre for your second location?

I think this is a very happening area with a lot of restaurants and bars. There is a great mix of people here and overall the people that I’ve met here are quite nice. From what I’ve heard, they like what they see here in the store.

How are you spreading the word about the new store?

We are on Facebook and we would love for people to check out our page and sign up for our mailing list. We’re also working on developing our own website, which will be launching very soon.
