Does Baldwin Abandon Its Gifted Kids?

Shortsightedly Baldwin has abolished their gifted program, PAG.  PAG was a highly creative two-day pullout program. My four gifted daughters loved PAG. Collectively, they were in it for 13 years.  Without PAG, we would have had to leave Baldwin, and the School Board would not have been able to boast about their National Merit Scholarships and Presidential Scholar Award.

I just created a Facebook Group, Why I Loved PAG. I hope many former students and their parents will join. If former students share stories of what PAG meant to them and what they have done with their lives, the School Board might realize what has been lost.

Please tell anyone you know who has been in PAG or had a child in PAG about the group.

I would love to organize a presentation where former PAG students would speak to current students about their education and their careers.

Abolishing PAG makes no sense whatsoever. Bored gifted kids quickly become alienated kids.  Then they don't get into the prestigious schools and win the scholarships the School District likes to brag about. People looking for homes pay attention to that. Gifted kids need a special education. How can Baldwin morally justify abandoning them?

Any prospective Baldwin homebuyer with bright kids might look elsewhere if they read this blog.
