Notes From Underground is a Long Island-based rock band that will be performing Friday night at Vibe Lounge in Rockville Centre. The band's guitarist, Jeremy Pitcoff, spoke to Patch about what his band is like, how they perform and their upcoming shows.

Patch: How would you describe your sound?
Pitcoff: Notes From Underground is a hard rock, all-original band, driven by the energy of the road. Our style is shaped by New York City’s grit and the circus of its masses.
Patch: What are your performances usually like?
Pitcoff: Wild! The one thing that we bring to the stage, more than anything else, is energy. We put everything we’ve got into every show we play and the crowd responds and gives the energy right back. As much as we love the recording and production end of our business, Notes From Underground is a live band through and through.
Patch: What is your next big thing coming up?
Pitcoff: We are really excited for the upcoming release of two feature films, both of which will play songs from our Radio Static CD; Shockwave Darkside, directed by Jay Weisman, will contain our song “Silicon Hills,” and our song “Run (For Your Life)” will be featured in Catskill Park, directed by Vlad Yudin.
We also have some great shows coming up. We are playing at Trash Bar in Brooklyn (always a wild night) on Friday, Nov. 1. We are also working closely with Patty Dodge of PDT Entertainment on a host of great venues going into the New Year. Finally, we’re busy writing our next album which is targeted for a spring 2014 release.
Patch: What has your experience been like working on the current EP?
Pitcoff: Our CD, Radio Static, took us a little over a year to write, yet we recorded it in just under 10 hours! The album tells a very real human story — raw and unencumbered — and we wanted our recording to reflect that. It was refreshing to take this approach, to maintain the edge that we intended for these songs, and to demonstrate that music doesn’t need air-brush production techniques for a big rock sound.
