Maple Pointe Resident Turns 100

Vera Toole celebrates a century of life.

Vera Toole, the daughter of Russian immigrants, celebrated her 100th birthday on Aug. 21 at Maple Pointe Assisted Living on Maple Avenue.

Mayor Francis Murray presented Mrs. Toole with a resolution in her honor.

Mrs. Toole is a native New Yorker who lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn, later buying a home in Monroe with her late husband, Charles. Her most recent residence was in Massapequa Park before moving to Maple Pointe in September of 2011.

Mrs. Toole worked in a cleaning supply company for many years and as a secretary at the Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn before retiring in 1972.

She has two daughters — Louise in Massapequa and Amy in Florida — three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
