Breast Cancer Support Group Being Held at Mercy

Sessions to focus on how techniques in yoga postures and relaxation benefit individuals coping with breast cancer and related issues.

The Long Beach Breast Cancer and Breast Health Support Group, which currently is holding its meetings at Mercy Medical Center, will be offering presentations in April by a registered nurse who specializes in meditation, relaxation and stretching.

With its own facilities still unavailable due to damage from Hurricane Sandy, the Long Beach group meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at Mercy, welcoming residents of all nearby communities seeking assistance with breast health issues.

On April 8 and April 22 the group will hear from Mary Donovan, who is a Registered Yoga Teacher, Ayurveda Yoga Specialist, Meditation Specialist and Reiki Master. She will be explaining how techniques in yoga postures and relaxation can be of benefit to individuals coping with breast cancer and related issues.
