EAC Network Grants East Hampton High School Students Peer Mediation Awards for Helping to Create a Safer Community

(EAST HAMPTON, NY) On May 1, 2014 in the East Hampton High School auditorium, a diverse group of students and faculty were honored with an EAC Network Long Island Dispute Resolution Centers Peer Mediation Award Ceremony. These individuals completed a 16-hour Peer Mediation Training, which is a conflict resolution program that uses student mediators to help resolve disputes among students. The program institutes a process of communication and problem solving techniques that enable the Peer Mediators to help their peers reach settlements to disputes without confrontation or violence.

The ceremony began with opening remarks from Principal Adam Fine. Students and faculty received their Peer Mediation awards from Mr. Gregg Scheiner, trainer for EAC Network’s Long Island Dispute Resolution Centers.  In addition, on behalf of the Town of East Hampton, Town Supervisor Mr. Larry Cantwell presented the students and faculty with a proclamation. The event   concluded with an official Swearing In by the Honorable Judge Steven Tekulsky, Town Justice for the Justice Court for the Town of East Hampton.
