Crime Watch Part II: Another U-Haul Van Stolen, Door Possibly Shot

Larceny

  • The manager of U-Haul, located at 230-240 Maple Ave., reported to police on Oct. 28 that sometime between Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. and Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m., an unknown person(s) stole a white 2013 Ford van with Arizona registration from the parking lot.

  • A Baldwin resident reported to police on Oct. 31 at 7:20 a.m. that an unknown person(s) damaged the passenger window of her motor vehicle and stole a pocketbook while the vehicle was parked in the driveway of a Vernon Avenue residence.

  • A complainant from Meehan Lane reported to police on Nov. 1 that sometime since Oct. 31 at 10:10 p.m., an unknown person(s) stole four credit cards from her unlocked 2013 Nissan motor vehicle parked at the residence.

    • The owner of Dino’s restaurant, located at 328 Sunrise Highway, reported to police on Oct. 28 that on Oct. 23 at 1:06 p.m., an unknown person called and attempted to obtain payment for a supposed delinquent electric bill.

    • The manager of Wild Ginger, located at 424 Sunrise Highway, reported to police on Oct. 28 that at 2 p.m., an unknown person called and attempted to obtain payment for a supposed delinquent electric bill.

    Graffiti

    • The manager of Fantasy Theatre, located at 18 North Park Ave., reported to police on Nov. 1 that sometime between Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. and Nov. 1 at 9:30 a.m., an unknown person(s) placed graffiti on the exterior walls of the theater.

    Criminal Mischief

    • An employee of Star Cleaners, located at 332 Merrick Rd., reported to police on Oct. 31 at 6:42 p.m. that the passenger side doors of his motor vehicle were damaged by unknown person(s) while it was parked in the rear lot of the building. 

    • A complainant from Hamilton Street reported to police on Nov. 3 at 9:01 p.m. that an unknown person(s) damaged a rear sliding glass door valued at $1,500, possibly with a pellet gun.

    • A complainant from Lynbrook reported to police on Nov. 3 that sometime between Nov. 2 at 10:30 p.m. and Nov. 3 at 2 a.m., an unknown person(s) damaged the driver side of his 2008 Mini Cooper vehicle while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field #8.

    Property Damage

    • A complainant from Oceanside reported to police on Oct. 30 that sometime between 4:58 and 6:02 p.m., the driver side door of her 2013 Nissan vehicle was damaged by unknown means while parked on Powell Avenue.

    • Police personnel on Oct. 30 at 8:17 a.m. identified a village street sign and a tree that were damaged by unknown means at the corner of Lakeview Avenue and Roosevelt Place.
