The St. Agnes Cathedral has a long history in Rockville Centre, dating back to 1887. The first mass was celebrated thatMore year, and the original church was erected in 1904. The actual cathedral, which was constructed in a 15th century Norman Gothic style, was built 75 years ago and has been the home base for the Diocese of Rockville Centre for the past 53 years. The diocese, which encompasses Nassau and Suffolk counties, is the second largest in the country with over 370 priests, 771 religious women, 72 brothers and 250 deacons in the ministry. St. Agnes offers prayer services on Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m and 5 p.m.
St. Agnes Senior Club

The St. Agnes Senior Club, which is run by Sister Helen Byrne, is a group of seniors who meet on the first Wednesday ofMore every month from 1-3 pm for informational meetings, such as the benefits of assisted living, as well as for entertainment. It is housed in the Parish Center and anyone is who over 65 years old is welcome to join. The fee is $10 per person for the year. It has around 170 members and the club has served seniors for nearly two decades.

The St. Agnes Cathedral Elementary School, which is currently run by Rector Monsignor William Koenig andMore co-principals Kathleen V. Carlin and Helen Newman, originally opened its doors in 1917. It currently serves kindergarten through eighth grade, and with more than 850 students, it is the largest K-8 parish school in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. In addition to the core subjects, art, music, religion, technology and Spanish are also taught.
