Stemming from a small organized society in 1911, First Church of Christ Scientist grew into an incorporated church in…More 1924. Not yet having its own edifice, this band of members needed to share locations such as the Bank of Rockville Centre and the Masonic Temple to conduct its services.
From a building fund started in 1925, to property selections through 1928 to the architect's final plans and excavation in 1930, at long last First Church of Christ Scientist in Rockville Centre began holding services in its existing edifice since 1931.
Located on the residential streets of Morris Avenue, First Church of Chris Scientist holds its Sunday Lesson Sermon Services at 10:30 a.m., lasting for one hour. Its Sunday School, ranging from ages 3 through 19, starts at the same time.
Wednesday evening testimony meetings are at 8:15 p.m. At these meetings, gratitude and healings through the use of Christian Science prayer are shared. Open to the community for study and prayer is the Christian Science Reading Room within the premises. Its hours are Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m.. Its sales room is also open briefly after the Wednesday evening meetings and Sunday services.
