As a frequent critic of the RVC Patch, I am pleased to see that Matt Hogan hit one out of the parkRead More with this Bay Park story. As Memorial Day approaches, I can't help but wonder if the south shore bay water is even safe for swimming. After making numerous calls to the Town of Hempstead, the NC Board of Health and the NYS DEC it is apparent that a there is a difference of opinion. The Town Department of Conservation and Waterways considers the water safe while the State considers all waterways west of the Wantagh Parkway bridge too polluted to even harvest shellfish. Thanks to Matt and the Patch for reporting a truly disgraceful situation that may result in a public health emergency caused by the increasingly disfunctional government agencies tasked with handling that very issue.
