Rolling River Day Camp to be Featured on Cake Boss

Rolling River Day Camp in East Rockaway, New York will be featured on an upcoming episode of TLC's hit show, "Cake Boss."  The episode is set to air nationally on Monday, August 5 at 9:00pm.

The episode is titled "Camp Carlo's" and will document the process of how Buddy, Mauro and the rest of the crew from Carlo's Bakery created an over-the-top cake designed as a replica of the campgrounds to celebrate Rolling River's 20th anniversary in 2012.  The cake was design to feed over 1,000 campers and staff.

The cake also featured a special surprise element: a smaller wedding cake popped out of the larger cake to celebrate the anniversary of Rolling River Directors Rhonda and Mark Goodman.  The Goodmans met while working as counselors at Camp Kent in 1975.  Rhonda and Mark's children, Marissa, Alison and Jonathan who are also actively involved at Rolling River, arranged the surprise as an anniversary gift.

The episode will be the first time the Rolling River cake will be showcased to the public.   The entire "Cake Boss" team personally visited Rolling River last summer to present the cake and even had time to participate in a variety of camp activities including relay races and tug-of-war.  Many of the Rolling River campers and staff will be featured in the episode.

"Cake Boss" is an internationally-followed TV show that showcases the process of creating extreme cakes.  The show follows Buddy Valestro and his team at Carlo's Bakery based out of Hoboken, New Jersey.  Similar to Rolling River, Carlo's Bakery is family-owned and operated and Valestro was excited to bring his family to the camp to deliver the cake.

Catch the episode Monday, August 5 at 9:00pm on TLC.
