RVC Little League Receives Six Defibrillators

Rockville Centre Mayor Francis Murray and the Village Board of Trustees accepted a gift of six AED devices for the Rockville Centre Little League from Cardiac Science.

The defibrillators will be placed in each baseball field the little league uses.

RVC Little League Softball Umpire Coordinator Barry Hochhauser got the ball rolling on the project with the help of local coach Al Ford, who is also Vice President of Global Sales for Cardiac Science.

"My concern was little league has all these kids running in and out of the fields and if something happened, I wanted to make sure we could everything we could to make sure it wouldn't be anything bad," Hochhauser said.

"The American Heart Association shows that there are between 7,000 and 9,000 school-age children each year that die of cardiac arrest. We have had a handful of those here just on Long Island in the last 10 years," Ford added, who said they would also be working with the RVC Soccer Club.

The little league recently started its 63rd season.
