RVC Little League Opening Day Parade Set for April 6

Local little league entering its 63th season.

Rockville Centre Little League will officially open its 63th season on April 6, continuing a long and proud tradition in Rockville Centre.

The parade will start at 10 a.m. at South Side Middle School and then head up Maple Avenue to Hickey Field, where the opening day ceremonies will take place.

This year’s ceremonies will also honor local Rockville Centre veterans.

Any local veteran that wants to march with the players is invited to join up at South Side Middle School at 9:45 a.m. Any veteran that can not march is welcome to join the little league on the field at Hickey for the opening day ceremonies.

In addition to the parade, the league will be sponsoring its third annual food collection drive. All parade participants and spectators are asked to bring an item of non-perishable food to donate to local Rockville Centre food pantries.

This year's food collections will be immediately distributed to food pantries run by the Vineyard Church, United Church of Rockville Centre, St. Agnes Cathedral Service Center/Outreach, the Economic Opportunity Commission of Nassau County and Central Synagogue of Nassau County.

Please check the league website, www.rvclittleleague.com, for updates on the day of the event. In the event the parade is canceled, food donations will be collected at the Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
