RVC Crowned Major League D-30 Softball Champs

Five-run fourth inning seals title for RVC in 11-3 win over Long Beach.

A five-run fourth inning catapulted the Rockville Centre Major Girls Softball team over Long Beach in the District 30 Championship, sealing the title with an 11-3 victory.

Long Beach set the tone early by jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but RVC knotted it at 1 in the bottom half.

Stellar defense by both teams kept the game close as the RVC girls clung to a 4-3 lead heading into the home half of the fourth inning.

Then their bats exploded.

First baseman Eric Dooney laced a two-run double, then pinch hitter Colleen Raneri followed with a two-run single to cap a five-run inning and increase its lead to 9-3.

RVC ace pitcher Claire O'Brien struck out seven of the last nine batters to close the door and clinch the District 30 Championship.
