Kids Learn the Game of Basketball With Some Panthers

The Rockville Centre Basketball League last month teamed with the Adelphi Panthers to teach dribbling, passing, defense and rules to nearly 160 third grade athletes.

The league’s freshman division recently kicked off its season at the new John Friedermann Basketball Courts at Mill River. Greg Fanning and Ken Acerno, along with men and women players and coaches from Adelphi, ran the outdoor clinic over two Saturdays.

The RCVBL is a recreational and educational program that has existed for more than 50 years. It currently has over 1,200 athletes from grades 3 to 12. This is the first time the two organizations have partnered, and both hope to continue and expand the relationship in the future, according to Bill Faraday of RVCBL.
