Former Knick John Starks to Read to Kids in Baldwin

Former Knicks superstar John Starks and Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray will participate in Cablevision’s 2013 Knicks Read to Achieve summer literacy event on Tuesday at the Baldwin Public Library.

The two will read excerpts from the popular children’s book Hoop Genius: How a Desperate Teacher and a Rowdy Gym Class Invented Basketball by John Coy to local children and guests.

Presented by Kia Motors, the Knicks Read to Achieve @powertolearn.com literacy event — a partnership between the New York Knicks and Cablevision’s Power to Learn education initiative — encourages reading and comprehension during the summer months.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the library, which is located at 2385 Grand Ave.
