South Side Announces Class of 2013 Valedictorian, Salutatorian

Well-rounded seniors given distinguished honors.

The following is from the Rockville Centre School District:

South Side senior Justine Hamilton was recently named valedictorian for the class of 2013, while classmate Deanna Mostowfi was named salutatorian.

Intrinsically motivated for academic success, Hamilton is involved in the school's most rigorous course of study, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. She excels in classes such as IB Physics and IB Math Methods, and continues to work fervently in all academic areas.

She is a true scholar in every sense of the word. Hamilton's will and determination to succeed in the many challenges she takes on is most admirable. 

With an eclectic and extensive resume, Hamilton has been able to add her flair to so many different aspects of high school life. Within school, she is a member of the varsity soccer team and president of the art club. As a member of Glamour Gals, she spends time with the elderly at the local senior center, doing their hair and nails and developing friendships.

In the ACE Program, Hamilton taught dance and yoga to elementary school students. She enjoys many different activities and working with people of all ages. 

Hamilton will proudly attend Princeton University this fall.

Mostowfi is a gifted, athletic and motivated young woman has succeeded in every facet of her life here at South Side. A full International Baccalaureate Diploma CandidateMostowfi has excelled in every subject area. Her tireless work ethic and refusal of mediocrity is simply remarkable.

Her talents stretch beyond the classroom as well. Mostowfi is an officer of the South Side Chapter of SADD and an active member of both the Leo Club and Youth Decide.

Mostowfi was also one of the captains of the varsity volleyball team, which recently won the Nassau County Class A Championship. She was selected to the All-State, All-Long Island and All-County teams and named Scholar Athlete as well. This is just a snapshot of the abilities and talents that this young woman possesses.

Mostowfi has her priorities in order and has been a tremendous role model for our underclassmen. She is currently waiting with anticipation on her college decisions.
