RVC Schools Say Summer Program a Fun Success

Rockville Centre School District’s Summer Enrichment Program saw about 375 students in grades K through 8 take part in this year’s five-week course.

The program, under the direction of Principal Therese Cohen, ran from June 27 to Aug. 1 and was housed at South Side Middle School. Each day featured three hour-long classes with RVC School District teachers and teaching assistants. A visitors' day was held on July 31, when parents came to see their children's classes in action.

Classes included Math Mania, Fashion Fun, Kinderclub, Cooking Without a Kitchen,  Radical Racers, Adventures in Art & Literature, Mad Scientists, Navigating the iPad, Band, Orchestra,  Basketball, Tennis, Gymnastics, and Kids N' Motion.

The Rockville Centre Summer Pre-K Program ran simultaneously at Covert School under the direction of Jennifer Tramantano. This program allowed students entering kindergarten in September to participate in activities that focused on language development, listening skills, and fine and gross motor coordination, while providing opportunities for social development. Parents were invited to spend part of the morning observing their children in action at the Pre-K Visitors' Day on July 30.
