RVC PD and FBI Visit District Fifth Graders

Presentation focused on Internet safety and the importance of making good choices when using technology.

FBI Special Agent Danielle Messineo recently provided a presentation for Rockville Centre fifth graders. Since second grade, students have learned about Internet safety through integrated units conducted in the STELLAR program.  This presentation, coordinated with the assistance of the Rockville Centre Police Department, took the district's children to the next level.

As students transition to , their lives will be expanded and will be exposed to new things. As they mature, each child will make personal decisions about a host of concepts, including smart use of the Internet.

That's why the district contacted the Rockville Centre Police Department. Through Commissioner Charles Gennario, Lieutenant Chris Romance and Detective Norwood, students were connected with Special Agent Messineo. As an FBI agent on Long Island, she ensured that our communities are safe from predators and has given presentations to students from elementary to college levels.

Her presentation touched on topics relating to internet safety and the importance in making good choices when using technology. Students from Covert and Wilson Schools attended the event, which was also simulcasted over the Internet to our other elementary schools using the district's vBrick video system.

The information and pictures were provided by the Rockville Centre School District.
