Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, D-Mineola, met with Oceanside school officials this week to discuss the Oceanside School District’s ongoing recovery efforts after Superstorm Sandy devastated local schools.
The visit from McCarthy was status check on the school district’s applications to FEMA to get reimbursed for costs incurred as a result of Hurricane Sandy.
A spokesman for McCarthy said that everything is progressing as it should and that the congresswoman is monitoring the situation.
“It’s important that our young people are not disrupted in their educations because of Superstorm Sandy,” McCarthy said. “My office is happy to help the Oceanside School District along with the homeowners and business owners in the area that have been affected by the storm.”
