Cyclones Dominate in Homecoming Win Over Roslyn, 40-6

South Side defense forces seven turnovers in the lopsided victory.

South Side held a two-touchdown lead at halftime of Saturday's homecoming matchup against Roslyn after intercepting Bulldogs quarterback Paul Rogokfsy three times in the second quarter.

The Cyclones then exploded on offense in the final 24 minutes and outscored Roslyn 26-6 en route to a 40-6 victory and their second win of the season.

Senior Brendan Jackson rushed for 106 yards, including two touchdown runs of 22 and 26 yards. Eric Albertson also ran for 100 yards and chipped in a five-yard touchdown run. Even quarterback Cole Considine rushed for 70 yards, adding a one-yard rushing score of his own, as well as a 24-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter to Nolan LeBlanc.

But the star of the homecoming game was South Side's defense. The Cyclones forced seven Roslyn turnovers — four interceptions and three fumbles — which they turned into 21 points.

Nolan Kelly snagged two interceptions, and Phil Romano and Alberston each had one of their own.

To add insult to injury, the Cyclones — who had their highest scoring output of the year —  even had a special teams touchdown, as senior Zach Scaduto returned a kickoff 76 yards for a touchdown with less than four minutes left to play.

The only blemish on South Side's dominating defensive day was a 65-yard touchdown for Roslyn with just under four minutes left in the game. But there was no bringing down the Cyclones, who played their best game of the year on each side of the ball.
